i figured out why the grubby + lucifer picture is so funny to me.
with most pictures, we have the subject, to which we give our focus, around the middle-ish area of the picture, with other background stuff and etc. sometimes, the subject might be looking towards us to draw our attention to it or something like that. in this grubby + lucifer picture, the whole thing is a bit blurry and not very clear and the background isn’t any less out of focus so we get easily distracted. The crowd in the upper-middle section is looking directly at us while the main would-be subject is not, so it feels awkward and out of place. almost as if the real subject is actually the crowd in the background looking at us, pleading with our eyes to focus on them, and the foreground with grubby and lucifer is not the main attraction.
