Tip: High Upkeep and Conserving Mines
So I was playing a practice game with James today and thought of something to talk about. When I break into high upkeep sometimes I take my gold-mining peasants off the mines while I’m above 80 food. I haven’t used it much lately, but I haven’t been playing much lately either. Before I would do it a lot on Lost Temple mainly. When you’re breaking 80 food to end the game such as a tier 2 push versus elf you don’t care so much and should just keep mining, but if it’s like LT and you’re just breaking food to get a larger army then it could be helpful to stop mining during the high upkeep period. It might even be game changing on a map like Echo Isles where we see quite a few games last until there are no resources left.

WHERE IS MY MOON PAD ?! IT HAS NOT COME YET ! has yours ?!
nope, i’m going to wait for the 1 month mark and then email and ask
maybe we should email and ask now ^_^
Never actually thought about doing that o . O
=)
I’ve thought of this as well, and used it on occasion. In the right circumstances I think this is a very good strategy. You want to make sure you have enough gold in reserve though. Normally you would want to go back to 70 or even 50 food after making a big military push and then harvest some gold at lower upkeep, but you might need to be able to push out a bunch more units at any time. Just depends. I haven’t found many articles on the net advocating this (one page of hits on Google, and this page is one of them).
yeah, it’s mainly for conserving your mines.. it can make a big difference in long games
