Water Elemental Creeping “Trick”
So I made a short video of a really simple creeping “trick”, if I can even call it that much, with water elemental that lets you finish creeping faster. It’s nothing amazing but I don’t see anyone do it. It’s nothing big either, but little things add up, right?
So I was originally planning to add voice narration (commenting/commentating) but then I decided that I don’t like talking; instead, I’ll just write a few notes below.. there isn’t much to say anyway.
Notes
- The gist of the whole thing is moving your water elemental back away from the creeps when it’s about to die so that it can continue doing damage. *In most cases* this doesn’t make a huge difference and I don’t do it myself every time I creep a camp anyway. I most commonly use it when I am fast expanding on Lost Temple. You really do notice the difference when you’re creeping your natural gold mine with 3 militia (or even 4) and 2 footmen.
- I called my militia just slightly too late in the demo video. I also could have let my WE take a little more damage; it was at like 85 hp when I pulled it back.

not to flame / burst your bubble or anything, most players dont do this because
1. the water elemental is easy for the opponent to kill and get free exp from
and what makes it even worse is, since the summoning life of the Water elemental is quite high after the initial creep, if they do come, it is around for quite a while longer for them to kill. then again, you could always deny the Water Elemental, but as far as i know, most people dont take this risk because it is not worth it, giving your opponent free exp as opposed to keeping it around for several more seconds and killing it.
(this is all just my personal opinion and from what i have seen, still love ya’ matty)
mood pad powa !
etc
Very interesting article. I think the Archmage is one of the best heroes.
This is basic micromanagement that StarCraft players have been performing for a decade.
yeah, in general the concept is basic. but applied to the water elemental and creeping no one really does it.
