missing game one against shortround and the games versus yane
Game One - Human versus Undead on Gnoll Wood
or, “the game I stopped firelord tower rushing UD”.
Fuck close spawn. Close spawn on gnoll wood = a sign from the gods that I was predestined to lose the match.
“well that was fun”
Game Two - Elf versus Undead on Echo Isle
or, “sold won game” as the euros say
or, “if I was an elf player (I wouldn’t have fucked that up)”
Yeah I made a few critical mistakes. Third map would have been Lost Temple. But then again I don’t think I’ve ever beaten Yane on Lost Temple in my entire life anyway. Kind of sucks cause I was all mentally prepared for GW + LT. GW got close spawn and didn’t get to play LT :( LT I was going to T2 rifle/caster/mortar push his tier 2 expansion (assuming he tier 2 expands). Otherwise mass gyro building kill xd…
Oh well
So I guess I’ll just write some comments about the game.. nothing comprehensive. Don’t feel like doing screenshots either! So sue me.
I was expecting Rulaz (orc) on this map…. but yeah. So I was disappointed I didn’t get a good spawn to creep merc but I crept it anyway. I think I crept it incorrectly.. it’s probably better to get the 2 ranged first?
Anyway, I notice he’s expanding and camping his expo so I decide to creep to level 3 and push. I sell my items at the shops and buy circlets before pushing. Push failed. 2 arcanes~
He uses Night Elf on this map. I won’t guess why. Anyway He goes POTM so I assume hunts/tier 1 stuff. Go over what to do in my head: get expo up, guard tower or two, dual rax rifles to counter hunt/protector push.
So yeah he accidentally canceled all his protectors, but I think I would have won anyway.. just would have been more difficult. The angle at which I built my town hall at the expansion probably wasn’t so great either. I probably should have built it along the trees on the other side and put towers in front.
Yeah my opponents keep picking TS against me.. kind of lucky as it’s one of my favorite maps along with LT. (James says I shouldn’t post stuff like this?)
So my opponent didn’t creep at the start and ran straight to me.. killing my troll priest since I wasn’t paying attention to it (because you usually don’t have to that early..). That kind of threw off my groove and I fed him a free footman too.
If you watch replay, you’ll see I ran into some big trouble at tier 3. Usually you want to chop some trees for an opening by then, but I didn’t so I had to use zeppelins to ferry my units across >_>. My workshop should have gone behind the wall as well.
1.22 staff nerf is going to hurt.
can’t figure out the checksum algorithm for part of the replay files…..
given it two days/nights… giving up… gotta go back to work on other stuff…
don’t know how to crack it… don’t even know what i need to learn to be able to crack it… =(
kind of annoyed… i don’t mind not knowing stuff, i mind not knowing how to know what i don’t know should i want to know it.
/fail/
7am k lol.
ferf said i should add a search and that was a good enough excuse to work on the site so 2nd version of demon hunter reps is up. changes: sort by site, event, matchup, map as well as a search. i guess i’ll stop deleting old database records so that the search is more useful.
oh yeah… izireps (the replay database most commonly used) has some really fucking weird code for the page numbers.. didn’t even notice til i rewrote a lot of stuff today. here’s what it had:
$tmpsum = ($all_num_of_rows / $REPSPROSEITE) + 1.0;
if ($tmpsum == ((floor($all_num_of_rows / $REPSPROSEITE + 1.0)))) $tmpsum–;
for ($i=1; $i<(floor($tmpsum)+1); $i++){
if ($i == $seite){
echo $i.’ | ‘;
}elseif (!empty($show)){
echo’<a href=”‘.$replaypath.’file=show_replays&show=’.$show.’&seite=’.$i.’” >’.$i.’</a> | ‘;
}else{
echo’<a href=”‘.$replaypath.’file=show_replays&seite=’.$i.’”">’.$i.’</a> | ‘;
}
}
dunno where the guy came up with that.. it’s even worse cause in the for loop it’s going to calculate floor($tmpsum)+1 every single time. the value never changes so you don’t want to do that
broke my losing streak in clan wars against cruncher today in wcip quals. replays: lost temple - terenas stand
so let’s see today is sunday the 23rd. after i wake up i’ll work on something for this blog :D dunno how it will turn out though i might decide it sucks while doing it. next few days i absolutely have to finish this other project i’ve been doing i’ve already wasted about 20 fucking days away “working on it”… battle tanks games take like 1 hour +.. dota is around there too…
want to make my own blog template for this site.. that’s going to take a good few hours of work. that will come LATER though so i best not even think about it. it’s when i think too much i end up doing nothing
so i guess i’ll put this on this blog instead of my personal one. i got around to reading this ebook i should have read a million years ago and that’s really why i could just work and finish version 2 of demonreps in a few consecutive hours. i’ll just quote a little bit
“do you know how to tell a successful person from a[n] unsuccessful one? the easiest way is by the language they use. when you talk to a successful person about his goals, he’ll tell you what he plans to do and when it will be done. when an unsuccessful person talks about his goals (assuming he even has one), you’ll hear something along the lines of, ‘i hope to do this someday.’ here’s a clue for all you losers out there; someday never comes.”
so DO IT. DO IT NOW.
both vs chase, elf on tm and hu on ts
oh yeah, i beat mym]eve but it was just tower abuse so i wont post :p and it’s not really something to be so proud of anyway!
here’s the xlocup coverage and check out the mym incup summer #8 page (i’m publicnotice ^^)

HvN TS R6 frozen meh made a ton of mistakes this game. sucks, before it started i thought i had a good chance of winning since map was terenas.
some mistakes in the game vs frozen:
peasants cut down the trees and ruined my wall… therefore delaying everything
i saw he went fast tier 3 so i shouldn’t have made rifles probably since i was already behind
should have power built sanctums i think.. needed faster casters
and even then at the end i prob should have just hid inside base lol~
So back in mid-June as I was getting back into Human I posted a “Case Study” on playing against Dark Ranger on Terenas Stand, if I can really call it that. It was more of a bunch of ideas to try since I was losing more than I liked.
So I’ve tried the ideas and here is parte dos! (I probably slaughtered that lol, Martin save me if I messed up=)) Kind of a completion to the ‘case study’ that was started, hopefully making it now a sort of ‘guide.’ I’m feeling a bit ambitious, so I’m going to say if the nonsense below helps at least two people then I will consider my time not wasted. LoLz
BoX’s Guide: Playing against Dark Ranger on Terenas Stand and Echo Isle with Human
Introduction
This strategy is specifically for TS and EI, on which it is easier to set up an expansion and defend it. In it’s entirety, it cannot be used on maps such as Turtle Rock or Twisted Meadows without great difficulty. DISCLAIMER - I’m not pro so don’t flame me, please. It will make me sad =( I do believe the majority of players will be able to find this of some use, however.
Summary
1. Start & Creeping the expansion
2. Setting up the expansion
3. During tech - harassing
4. Tier 2 - Build army and push.
Start & Creeping the expansion
Start off the game by standard creeping to level 2 with the respective green camps. Direct expanding with a low-level Archmage makes it harder to get the expansion up cleanly; A higher level Archmage and more early footmen also makes it easier to deal with whatever your opponent does.

Base build: At your main you should have your buildings placed so that there is no entrance. The Dark Ranger and archers will then not be able to get inside and kill your peasants; however, skeleton minions will, so be prepared to call to arms some wood peasants to deal with a skeleton harass. Optionally, you could build an arcane tower to help with this. Place it a distance behind your wall so that archers can’t take it down.
Research defend after your 3rd or 4th footmen. I’ve been getting it after my 3rd lately.

On Terenas it’s best to expand at a green corner mine and of course expand at your natural on Echo Isle. I usually use five militia to creep the camp. Although you could do it with less, 5 helps you creep it faster and afterwards they are there ready to build the town hall. Five to six is the ideal number of peasants for speed-building a hall; four is not enough.
If you have already started creeping and your opponent creep jacks you, calmly finish creeping while moving away the units that are being focus fired. Above all, try not to take too damage on your Archmage. Dead hero = dead game. Don’t forget to have 3-5 wood peasants hotkeyed in case you need to call to arms for help.
When fighting agianst DR + archers, it’s better to try not to focus fire too much, but a little is good. Defend your footmen, attack move, and micro back focus fired units. With your Archmage you can and should focus fire, either your opponent’s hero or a weak unit. Water elementals can also be focus fired but they’re speed is a bit slow as well, so make sure you don’t have them running around not doing damage.
Throughout the early game you should continue making footmen, or else you can bet your bottom dollar that you will get run over.
Setting up the expansion
Up to now if everything is normal, the elf should have either tried to hit your main, jacked you while you were creeping, or is off creeping and probably expanding himself.
If you haven’t seen your opponent yet at this point you should use a footman to scout and find out what’s up. Otherwise, fight him off with your superior micro. (Because even if we mass towers against air, it doesn’t mean we don’t have micro, right?)
Build an arcane tower at your expo location before town hall and creep in the proximity so you are able to respond if he attacks or harasses your expansion. On Terenas Stand the goblin shredder is available at 23:00 and it can be used to help defend against an attack if you need it. Priorities should be
a) Get your expansion up
b) Hopefully get level 3 so you can play agressively after expo is up. Don’t lose too much if he tries to stop your expo or you’re going to have to hide behind towers all game

During tech - harassing
When and only when your expansion is up, you should begin teching. Add a few defensive guard towers, but be sure not to overdo it.
Now that your expansion is secured, harass your opponent. Cancel tier 2 buildings, kill wisps, hit his expansion, use a goblin zeppelin if it’s TS, etc. Behind in tech but with a resource advantage, now is a great time to trade units to delay the elf. There really is not a need to bank gold like an undead player. I usually keep making footmen if they die until I’m close to Keep.
Build a blacksmith sometime during your tech.

Tier 2 - Build army and push.
At tier 2, train the Mountain King and build 2 Arcane Sanctums and a Workshop. Your first casters should be priests and research dispel. For your army, pump rifles, priests + breakers, and mortars. Be sure to scout and see if your opponent is making more dryads or teching for bears. If dryads, make more rifles, and if he is making bears, then focus production on breakers.
Upgrades! make a huge difference. I have started just getting damage upgrades first before armor, but I see most pros go 1-1. One damage upgrade then a armor upgrade. Whatever you do, don’t underrate upgrades! As for which upgrade first, I go range (or whatever it’s called) before the iron swords whatever one; but once again, I notice ToD likes to upgrade his breakers.
At Keep with your Mountain King is when you want to start power creeping. Pick up at least one scroll of healing and maybe a potion of invulnerability. Continue pumping units and you should hit 70+ food count very quickly.
Pushing
Bring militia and your goblin shredder if you have one when you push either the elf’s expo, or if he doesn’t have one, his main. Use your mortar teams to take out buildings while keeping your others units positioned carefully. Priests should be behind the front line and spread out so they can’t all be silenced if possible.
Keep your peasants at the side, in general, as they will just be food in front; they do help get in the way if dryads or panda goes for your mortars. Build two to three towers to the side but close to his buildings, although they usually won’t really do anything. There’s something about having long-ranged siege attacking your buildings and towers going up in your base that causes players to think they have to react and do something quickly.
When fighting with high food armies, you do not want to do too much focus firing unless your opponent breaks formation first; for example, by having a panda or dryad run through to get to your mortars, or if there are faerie dragons mana flaring on top of your casters. If it needs to be said, mortars should be focus fired on dryads if you can handle it; but if you can’t it’s better to just attack move them as you don’t want your mortars chasing a dryad that has been microd back.
Mountain King bolt is best to stun the panda before it tries to use breath of fire on your units. Bolt the panda, move your units, and possibly focus fire with breakers.
If all went well, now you get to go refill your cup of tea or get some noodles and grin like an idiot for beating an elf.
Otherwise….. you cry and switch to Blizzard for area of effect and mass breakers, and you’ll probably still lose anyway.

DISAPPOINTING =( but at least I took a map!!! lol, I guess I should be grateful I didn’t get owned too hard considering I had no one really to practice with in human mirror. Should have begged spail, haha. nilknarf blocked me before I could even ask for lessons. MAN I hella choked, threw away some games so hard. Lack of experience I guess. Gosh wouldn’t it be sick to be genius like shortround, I wonder if he had to practice much to get to the top. Maybe it would be better to just get owned than have close games?.? Embarassing but at least not as frustrating(I think? :p)
Oh and I met David Turley in person so I’m automatically better than most of you! xD
Anyway here’re the replays in order:
Human Mirror - TS - ShrieK 0-1
Think I needed to stop running around and just lose some units to take down expo
Human Mirror - TM - ShrieK 1-1
Lol this game was funny. makes up for losing all the other ones a little bit
Human Mirror - TR - ShrieK 1-2
I mis-scouted. Not much more to say.
Elf Mirror - EI - Hulk 1-0
Lol so we found out in the middle of the game that we didn’t even need to play, but finished it anyway. This game dedicated to 21!! :p
Human Mirror - EI - HolyHuman 0-1
Had a nice start, got panda cause I thought it was safe after the nice start. MK owned me. GG
Human Mirror - GW - HolyHuman 0-2
LoL we asked if we could ‘mutually veto’ gnoll, and answer was NOPE. Kind of lame. I had a gyro flying around and managed to not see the gryphon aviary even though I was SPECIFICALLY looking for it. Owned gg.
Wohoo back to real life!
(2)RoadToStratholme.w3x
Game 1. Randomed to Elf the next two games lol. Got owned 2nd game and made a really amateur mistake 3rd game that lost won match =[
(2)TerenasStand.w3x
from ICL, not very good games though
(4)LostTemple.w3m
from ICL, not very good games though
